Hands on learning

"Hands on" learning

At Pembroke we have a commitment to providing students with a “hands on” environment that stimulates learning and understanding, promotes problem solving and thinking and creates the optimal conditions for students to be immersed in their school.

We encourage students to make a difference through a variety of forums and relish opportunities to be involved in the broader community.
Examples of this include

• Vegetable garden including orchard ( all classes have their own areas of responsibility)

• Science Lab include creatures

• Woodwork shed ( all year levels)

• A partnership established with a local wildlife carer

• Buddies

• Students sending information booklets to an orphanage in Myanmar

• Participation in tree planting days, Celebrate Mooroolbark festival, Community Carols evening

• A sustainability group that measures electricity and water consumption and rubbish collection
